City of London Squad

Anaconda is forming a City of London Swimming Squad - this will initially be one weekly session (choice of two times).

FocusIn this initial phase the focus will be on swimming for fitness and preparing for competitive swimming, incorporating elements of the Fitness and  Academy squads. Anaconda intends to further develop this squad in time with additional sessions and competitive swimming. Coaches will aim to improve technique, speed, endurance, and race skills. Swimmers are not expected to compete however they are encouraged to do so.

Entry criteria: Swimmers must be capable of swimming all four competitive strokes with the correct technique to Swim England Standards (e.g. no screw kick on breaststroke) and must have stamina to be able to keep up with the training sets of the squad, as set by the coaches.

Age: 8+ and 13+

Fees: £40/month (annual membership fee waived in 2024, bursary places may be available)

Kit requirement: Squad cap, drinks bottle, fins

Attendance expectations: There is no minimum training requirement, however swimmers wishing to progress to a competitive squad must have high attendance and compete regularly.

Outside term time swimmers may attend a Fitness or Academy session as the CLSG pool will not be in use. Swimmers in the Fitness and Academy squads wishing to attend City squad sessions may do so with the permission of the coaching team. City squad swimmers wishing to commit to further sessions may consider joining the Academy or Fitness squads and could continue to attend City squad sessions - this is subject to the permission of the coaching team and available capacity in those squads.

Times: Thursday 4:15pm or 5:15pm (1 hour session, start time is pool ready time)
